The Battle for Alterac Valley - Daily Battleground 12/7/09

I fought in 16 battles for Alterac Valley on Wranngar today, 11 wins and 5 losses. Some of the battles we did really good in, some we didn't do so well in. It turned out it was my daily battleground today, when the daily's rolled over, and we won the first one I was in after I picked it up.

We had a little bit of teamwork in some of the battles, but not nearly enough to call it Alliance working together. About the only real teamwork I see is people banding together and reporting the AFKers AFK. A lot of people seem to be getting really sick of all the AFK in battle after battle, and you see more people saying report the AFK. The AFK are getting a little desperate now, they are trying to find new area's to hide in. The problem with that is, no matter where they go, they show up on the map as a dot. I have been fighting in there so long I know all of them by name now and I just point them out.

We had a few good battles where the Horde decided they wanted to turtle. I used to hate it when they did that because it meant being stuck in DB and a loss. The Alliance has adapted though and now a Horde turtle usually means we beat them all the way back to Frostwolf and then take that away from them. I get a lot of kills out of these battles. This is where we are fighting the Horde face to face and the better team wins. Not 5 or 6 Horde ganking one or two Alliance, that the Horde can do and usually come out victorious, but when it is even numbers and you have to actually fight with some skill they are lacking. We won a few battles on reinforcements this way.

The strat that was working for us was hit Galv, which the Horde have been camping at so this may lead to a turtle, then IBT, IBGY, TP, while the second group moves on down to FWGY, WFWT, EFWT and the Relief Hut. Then kill Drek when the towers are down. Of course if someone takes SHGY during that then the Horde rez in their cave then come in and wipe out everyone at FW Keep. This is why it is very important to look at the map before you cap SHGY. Look and think, where are the Horde going to go if I take this? If the answer is their cave, don't do it.

I had a AFK leech attach itself to me, seems to be the new thing, put yourself on following someone, so I took him to see Jotek. Jotek is an elite member of the Frostwolf clan that stands just outside the hut Wing Commander Vipore is being held prisoner in. I was in stealth mode so all Jotek saw was the leech. Apparently he hates AFK as much as I do, problem solved.

As usual the problem with taking SHGY early in the battle is you get a noobfest going no there where everyone seems to think they need to defend it. You can not pry them away from there. They will let IWB and SHB burn but they will defend that GY... They will let the Horde pour into DB and take it over but SHGY is safe. The thing with SHGY is, it is useless to us for the most part, I don't know what the fascination is. In earlier versions of Alterac Valley it did play a part, but now the only part it plays is a turtle and loss if someone takes it too early.

All in all the Alliance had a pretty good day in AV. We had some wins, a few losses, and quite a few good battles. I am looking forward to getting back in there tomorrow and fighting some more. Hopefully it will be the daily battleground again. I am over 89,000 lifetime kills now, just a little over 10,000 to go to get my title.

Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 12/6/09

It is the holiday weekend (Call to Arms) in Strand of the Ancients this weekend and it was also my daily battleground today. We did well in the one battle I fought in on Wranngar, we won it easily. We have won the last few battles I have been in with ease in SoA.

Round 1 started with the Alliance inside, at the graveyard, so we were on Defense. The Horde started outside on offense, they had the task of breaking their way in through the gates and trying to capture the relic. They started off with an all out assault on the green gate and got that down pretty quick, then they moved on to the purple gate. As they attacked that they also did a surprise attack on the blue gate, kind of an insurance policy I guess, or maybe just some people doing their own thing, I don't know. The majority of them went through the green gate to the purple gate and on to the yellow gate though, which leads to the courtyard where the last gate, behind which is the relic, is but no farther. They got the yellow gate down but we massed in the courtyard and they couldn't get to the last gate. We held them off until the timer ran out, end of round 1.

Round 2 started with us on the boats out to sea. We were on offense. I am not sure exactly how long it takes the boats to get to shore but it is enough time for defense to get set up, maybe a minute. We attacked the blue gate, got that down, plowed through the red gate and made our way to the yellow gate. We took the yellow gate down, still had a few siege vehicles going, and took down the last gate exposing the relic. We captured the relic and ended round 2 as the victors.

That completed my daily battleground which pays 19g86s and 1241 bonus honor.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - /Sigh... 12/6/09

I fought in 10 battles in Alterac Valley on Wranngar tonight, 5 wins and 5 losses. Even though we won 50% of our battles the Alliance was playing pretty poorly tonight.

First off I would like to mention we had a lot of AFK, but that goes without saying. Another problem was starting off with anywhere from 20 to 30 Alliance against 40 Horde. The Horde always start at 40 players and we are lucky if we have over 35 at the start. Tonight we were starting really low. When you start off with 20 players it can take up to 10 minutes to even out the sides, that can, and usually does, decide the battle. Whether or not we were staring with less players, the playing was just bad. There were a lot of people in there just farming kills. I am in there for the kills, I have 100 marks, the maximum, and 75,000 honor, the maximum, but I still like to win, especially because I blog about it. Some people just want to farm kills though and don't care about winning.

In a couple of the battles, one win and one loss, we had a noobfest going on at SHGY as happens all too often when we take it early in the battle. Everyone feels they have to defend SHGY and no one advances. The only plus side of that, in the battle we won, was it kept the Horde from capping Icewing Bunker and anything in our base which gave us time to get Iceblood Tower, Tower Point, the East and West Frostwolf Towers and the Relief Hut. I don't even know if we killed Galv in that battle.

We ended up 5 manning Drek in that battle. We had a Druid (healer), a Warrior (tank), me in cat form (dps), a Shaman (dps) and a Paladin (dps) and we took him down. We killed the Frostwolves first, that took a while and a bunch of deaths, then we took Drek on all by himself. That was all the people we could get to leave the noobfest at SHGY and come to FWK. Sad but true. I couldn't believe we got him down with just 5 of us.

The other battles we just as sad, no teamwork, even in the ones we won it was a small group that carried the whole battle, while everyone else was AFK or farming kills.

The Battle for Wintergrasp - 12/6/09

I only fought in one battle for Wintergrasp today on Wranngar and we won it. There must have been a lot of Horde there in that battle because the Tenacity wasn't too bad, they only had slightly above normal health and damage. These pictures show the damage to the keep, I was talking about in my earlier post, after the battle.

I started out in the keep and went to the Sunken Ring workshop to help capture that, then I headed off to one of the towers to kill the Warsong Guards there and get to rank 1 so I could build and pilot a catapult. I killed a couple guards on the bridge on the way over there to get me started. Once I had my rank I helped capture the Eastern workshop and built a catapult. I took that to the southeastern tower and helped destroy that. By the time I was done there the southern tower was down so I headed for the southwestern tower and, once again, my catapult was destroyed by Horde before I got there. I guess they had taken back the workshops by then because I rezzed behind the keep. I helped defend from there on out and the southwestern tower never did get destroyed but the Horde were unable to capture the keep so we won anyway. I guess that is the hard way lol.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - 12/5/09

The battle for Alterac Valley raged on again today with both sides taking some victories and some losses. I fought in a record, for me anyway, 36 battles on Wranngar today, 24 wins and 12 losses. We weren't doing too bad in there today.

We had a few Blitz's and so did the Horde so a bunch of the battles didn't last too long at all, they were over in 6 minutes or less. Not all the battles were over that fast though, some lasted a half hour or more while the majority were over in 20 minutes or less.

There are 2 strats that seem to still be working well for the Alliance, rush Drek and forget about the towers, we usually still get Galv, and the tried and proven start at Glav and work your way south. For the Alliance Alterac Valley runs north to south with the Alliance starting in the North and the Horde starting in the south. We work our way south to the Horde base while the Horde works their way to our base in the north.

The rush Drek strat only works when everyone follows the plan, that does not happen too often. By everyone I mean better than 75% of the team. Each tower adds 25% health to Drek and represents a Warmaster in with him along with the 2 elite Frostwolves there. So when you rush Drek, with 4 towers up, you are taking him on at 200% health with 4, pretty mean, Warmasters and 2 Frostwolves, not an easy task.

When you start at Galv then get IBT, TP, hopefully IBGY and FWGY, the east and west Frostwolf towers and the relief hut Drek is down to 100% health and all alone with the exception of the 2 Frostwolves which never go away. A much easier task to take him down. The way to win with this strat is to put enough people in the towers to actually defend them, something the Alliance has a real problem doing.

In a turtle, if we can get at least 2 towers down before the Horde decide they want to turtle, it is a good idea to take SHGY and hold it. That way we can better defend Stonehearth and Icewing Bunkers. From there we have been able to push them all the way back to Frostwolf Keep lately with a good group. A lot of kills in those battles. Once we get them back to Frostwolf Keep we try to get that away from them and have been successful a lot of times which resulted in us also getting the keep towers and killing Drek for maximum honor. So SHGY can still be a strategic point but in a much different way than it was a couple years ago.

The main problem the Alliance has is not working together. The Horde travel in large groups and prey on single and pairs of Alliance. When it comes to a straight up 40 on 40 fight, or as close as you can get with all the AFK, we really have no problem overcoming them and pushing them righ back into their cave.

Wintergrasp - The Battle Rages On - 12/5/09

I only got to fight in one battle for Wintergrasp tonight on Wranngar. We were defending the keep and we held onto it for a victory in Wintergrasp.

As soon as the battle started I headed down to one of the Horde's eastern towers and killed the guards there so I could reach rank 1. At that rank I was able to build and pilot a catapult which I took to the southeastern tower and helped destroy. Then I headed to the southern tower to help with that but it was destroyed by the time I got there, the catapults are not known for speed. I headed to the southwestern tower from there but was attacked by Horde on the way and had my catapult destroyed. I didn't need to make another one though as the southwestern tower fell shortly after that. At that point the battle was pretty much over. I helped kill Horde at one of the workshops then moved on and helped defend the keep until the battle was over. I should be able to get the quests again tomorrow and get some more Stone Keeper's Shards.

The thing that's cool about this battleground is you can actually see the towers and keep falling to ruin as they are assaulted. I can't wait to see what the next expansion brings for battleground activity.

Eye of the Storm - Daily Battleground 12/5/09

Eye of the Storm was my daily battleground today. I only fought in one battle on Wranngar and I got into it late. I only had to fight in one, we won that one.

We were losing by over 1,000 points when I got there but we had 3 towers capped so the 3 cap must have been recent. I went to MT, one of the towers we were holding, and helped defend that until the end of the battle. This was an EoS done right, towers are the way to win EoS, not the flag. We were running the flag though, but we had 3 towers. We ended up winning by a little over 1,000 points so it was still a close battle.

To win in EoS it is best to start off with a 3 cap and ignore the flag until you have those 3. I personally like to take MT, DR and FRR at the start. Most the Horde seem to go to BET, so FRR is usually lightly guarded. As long as you don't have a group of Flagtards this is easy to accomplish. Don't let the Horde con you into fighting in the road at FRR, they like to fight right when you come off the bridge but that's not clocking the tower over, get right up on the tower and fight. You need to have more at DR if you are hitting FRR at the start because the Horde are going to hit DR. If you are doing MT, DR and BET then you need to have more at MT as that is what they will hit.

This is a pretty easy battleground to win in as long as you don't get stuck with a group of Flagtards. You know you have a group of Flagtards when you come off the rock and more than half your team goes straight to the flag. It is pretty much all over then, collect your mark and what little honor you get and try again.

The Battle for Alterac Valley 12/4/09

The battle for Alterac Valley was going pretty well for the Alliance today, I fought in 25 battles on Wranngar, 18 wins and 7 losses.

We had some great battles today. The Horde decided they wanted to turtle in a few of the battles because they usually win on a turtle. Not today. We beat up on them pretty bad. I think the Alliance has finally figured out how to beat the Horde when they turtle because they have been doing it a lot lately. We basically beat them all the way back to Frostwolf Keep, capping towers and killing Galv on the way if he's still alive, and then we usually take Frostwolf Keep away from them so they are rezzing in their cave. I had one battle where I got over 300 honorable kills. That is really helping me on my way to my 100,000 lifetime honorable kills and my "of the Alliance" title. After today I have over 85,000 kills. That's over 10,000 kills in 9 days :).

The strat that was working today was the tried and proven get Galv, IBT, TP, IBGY with one group while the other group heads forward and gets FWGY, WFWT, EFWT and the RH. The main problem we are still having is not enough people holding IBT and TP so when the Horde come they take it back pretty easily and people leaving the Frostwolf towers unguarded altogether. They like to go into the FW towers and start it capping then jump down to stand on noob hill. One Horde will stealth in there and recap it. It happens time and again and no one learns.

We had a lot of AFK today. It is getting worse every day. People are starting to get mad, they are reporting more and you hear more people saying "Report the AFK". That is good, hopefully the repeat offenders will get their accounts suspended or banned from the battlegrounds. It is the same group of about 30 people. I see them in all the battlegrounds.

I had a Mage try to polymorph me in cat form today LOL. He must have picked up his toon off Ebay this morning. You can't polymorph a Druid when he is shape shifted. If they polymorph me in human form I just shape shift out of it. It has been a long time since anyone has tried that on me. Also when anyone roots me I shape shift out of it. The only thing I can't shape shift out of is the Hunters ice trap, I have to use my trinket on that or wait.

The Battle for Wintergrasp 12/4/09

The battle for Wintergrasp still rages on. I fought in 2 battles today on Wranngar, we won both.

In both the battles we were defending Wintergrasp Keep. I don't know how many Horde were in the second battle but there was a hunter with 147,000+ hp. That is boss hp so I can only assume he was there by himself lol. Actually we do outnumber them in there and that's why they get the Tenacity but they are pretty much able to one shot you with it.

I got my quest from yesterday done, help destroy one of the Hordes southern towers. I went right to the southeastern tower and killed the warmasters there so I could pilot a catapult. Once I was able to do that I went to the workshop and built one, then I headed back to the tower and helped blast it down. I haven't built and piloted a tank yet but I will. I got another 10 Stone Keeper's Shards for turning that one in.

The Battle for Eye of the Storm - Daily Battleground 12/4/09

Today my daily battleground was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar as usual. It took 2 battles to get a win.

In the first battle we started off good, we had 3 towers capped, DR, BET and MT, then everyone went Flagtard. We lost one of the towers, then another. I was guarding DR alone when 6 Horde rode in. I called incoming and no one came. That is not unusual, especially when everyone is more concerned with the flag. We got one tower back but lost it again. Meanwhile we had 6 people in the middle fighting Horde for the flag... Bottom line, there were too many Flagtards and not enough towers so we lost that one.

In the second battle we had a much better group. We got MT, DR and FRR right from the start then worked on BET, which kept the Horde busy, and started running the flag. We got BET for a 4 cap and it was over soon after that. Towers are the way to win in EoS. And the way to get towers is to fight at the node, not in the road. When you fight at the node you are clocking it over, when you fight in the road you are just wasting time. You could tell the quality of players was better in this group, I was guarding FRR solo and when I called incoming 4 people were there just like that, what a difference from one battle to another.

I got my daily done and turned it in for 19g86s and 1241 bonus honor which I don't even get because I am at the 75,000 honor cap.

The Battle for Warsong Gulch - Daily Battleground 12/3/09

Warsong Gulch was my daily battleground today and I was not excited. I hate Warsong Gulch. I think it is a crappy battleground with very little return for the time you have to spend in there. At least they put a 25 minute timer on it so that is the longest per battle you will be stuck in there.

We actually did well in there today. I only had to fight in one battle on Wranngar and we won it 3/0. We had a good team that worked together and didn't spend all their time in the middle fighting and accomplishing nothing.

We were able to get their flag and hold onto it, I think we only lost it once after we got it, and cap. We were able to get a group together and get our flag back when they had it even though they had it pretty heavily guarded, at least 5 people at all times. Of course they used over-powered Ret Pally's to guard it but when the bubble bursts they go down pretty fast. We had a heavy guard on our flag carrier and he was never in any danger. The one time we lost the flag was coming across the field which is the most dangerous part. That is where you are out in the open and the center of the Horde's attention.

The Battle for Wintergrasp 12/3/09

I only fought in one battle for Wintergrasp tonight on Wranngar, a win. We won it easily as a matter of fact. I got into the battle after it started because I was fighting in AV so I didn't get to complete the quest I got, which was to help destroy one of the Horde's southern towers. I will complete it the next time I am in there.

When I got in we were defending the keep which had very little damage to it. The 3 southern towers were already down so basically all I had to do was run around killing Horde. I had no problem with that. We cleaned up the remains and the battle ended. I took the portal back to Dalaran from there. I don't have enough marks or shards to get anything so I didn't bother sticking around to see the quartermaster.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - What's going on? 12/3/09

The battle for Alterac Valley rages on. I fought in 25 battles on Wranngar today, 21 wins and 4 losses. It is hard to believe I am fighting with the same people but I see the same people in these battles all the time. One day we do so bad it is unbelievable and the next day we can't lose, I don't know what's going on.

The strat that seems to be working well in there lately is to get Galv, then take and guard, and by guard I mean at least 4 people per tower, IBT and TP. Take IBGY while you are there and do not take SHGY for any reason at the start. Have the rest of the people move on to FWGY and the FWRH and east and west FW towers. Hold all those objectives until they burn or cap then kill Drek. We had a lot of wins with that strat today.

The Blitz works well too if you can get everyone to follow the plan. Getting everyone to follow the plan is the hard part, it usually just doesn't happen. To do the Blitz you need to have everyone ride straight to Drek, no stopping for anything. That is where the problem comes in, Glav is a tard magnet. People just can't let Galv live. A lot of times the Horde will wait in with Galv and, if we are doing the Blitz and only a few people go there, kill everyone that comes to kill him. If we are not doing the Blitz we always have enough people at Galv to wipe them out.

We had a group of 9 AFK at FWGY alone today. That does not count the people that were AFK in DB or the people AFK in the cave. The AFK problem is worse than I have ever seen it. There is some kind of new bot out that lets you set it to where you want to end up. Blizzard needs to get off their asses and do something about this.

We won a few on reinforcements. A lot of people QQ about those battles because they take so long but I like them. Those are usually the ones where we are fighting the Horde face to face, Today we pounded them all the way back to FWRH from SHGY and then took FWRH away from them, it was sweet :). I got a lot of kills in that and all the battles, over 1,000 for the day. I got a lot of honor too but I lose that because I am at the cap, 75,000.

AFK out of control in Battlegrounds 12/3/09

The AFK problem is really getting out of control in the battlegrounds... I DO NOT believe Blizzard is doing anything about this problem regardless of what they say. They can't be doing anything because it is getting worse on a daily basis. There must be a new bot out there people are using that will take you to certain places in the battleground. There were 9 AFK at FWGY in Alterac Valley today. NINE! There was a huge party at FWGY and no one in FW Keep getting the towers. They were all reported AFK and all AFK'd out of the battleground. There are a lot of AFK showing up at Frostwolf Keep too. They get there then stand at the foot of noob hill. They don't fight, they don't get towers and they die as soon as the Horde show up. As you can see in the attached screen shot these losers are getting honor and HK's without doing any damage or healing.

There is another kind of bot too, or maybe it is the same one people are using to get to FWK, it attaches itself to someone and follows them. When I get one of those on me I just stealth and run it through a group of Horde or run it by a Horde GY and let the guards take care of it. Either way, the AFK problem is out of control and it is causing us a lot of losses.

In this one battle we must have AFK'd over 30 people out of the battle by the time it was over. They just kept showing up and we kept reporting them. We won that one on reinforcements, hard to kill Drek when most your team is AFK. The rest of the people were farming HK's at DB.

Wranngar in the Arena 12/2/09

I fought in my first arena battles on Wranngar tonight. I joined Arkantose's 2x2 team and we fought 10 battles.

We didn't do too well but it was my first arena so I am not too discouraged. I fought in a couple arena fights on Gomorra a couple years ago but comparing a Warlock to a Druid is like comparing apples to oranges. We fought in 10 battles and won 1. The team I joined was already established so it had a higher ranking which I think made a difference when we were paired, we were being paired based on that ranking and I believe it will even out once we start getting paired against people with the same level of experience. Same level as mine anyway lol.

I have been thinking about doing arena for awhile on Wranngar but wanted to get better geared. Well now I am as well geared as I am going to get so I guess it is time. I will be updating our progress as I go along.

The Battle for Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 12/2/09

The daily battleground was Strand of the Ancients again today. I fought it on Wranngar and we easily won the first one I was in. I fought in another one later on with Arkantose, so he could get his daily done, and we easily won that one too.

The funny/sickening thing about all these different battlegrounds is I see the same people in there AFK. I just don't understand what kind of lowlife would just take a spot away from someone who could be fighting in all these battlegrounds just so they can get some free gear they don't have to work for. Blizzard says the people who do this get banned, stripped of all their gear and honor and even have their account permanently suspended, but I find that kind of hard to believe when I see the same people doing it day after day, week after week.

Anyway, as I said, we won both of these battles easily. The Horde made it to the yellow gate and destroyed it each time but they didn't destroy the door to the relic room in either battle. We made it all the way to the relic and captured it in both battles. For fighting in a winning daily battleground I completed my daily and got 19g86s and 1241 bonus honor.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - /Sigh... 12/2/09

It is hard to believe it was the same Alliance fighting in Alterac Valley today, after the battles we had in there yesterday. Yesterday we won 23 battles and lost 2. Today we won 14 battles and lost 21... It is just hard to believe the Alliance is so inconsistent in there. I fought all these battles on Wranngar and got a lot of kills but that's where the positive ends.

We did everything wrong, took SHGY at the start and held it like it meant something, didn't defend towers, lost the East and West Frostwolf Towers to the Horde time and again because people weren't guarding them, they were too busy standing on noob hill in front of the keep. We lost the Relief Hut countless times for the same reason. In battle after battle it looked like were were going to have a victory, we were capping the towers in FWK and had IBT & TP capping only to have someone take SHGY and get us all wiped out and sent back to Dun Baldar. This happened time and again. When I was in FWK guarding a tower or the RH I would just wait until the Herald announced "The Alliance has attacked Stonehearth Graveyeard", which marks the beginning of the end. No matter what anyone said people would take it. Then you have the quitters, the people who quit because someone did something after they said not to or just quit when the going gets bad. Good riddance I say, we don't need you.

There was one battle where everyone actually followed the plan, by everyone I mean over 90% of the people that were not AFK. We had A LOT of AFK in all the battles. You will not get all the people to follow any plan, maybe some people can't read, maybe some people think they can win solo in a 40x40 battleground so they follow their own plan, but 90% is a like a record for the Alliance. We won that one easily. If only we could have that kind of response in every battle.

Hopefully this was just a nightmare and the next time I am in there we will do better with people that can actually think, reason, and follow a plan.

The Battle for Wintergrasp 12/2/09

After a fierce battle we were able to take Wintergrasp Fortress from the Horde and secure it for the Alliance. Wintergrasp is another nice battleground, big with a lot going on. It takes a little while to ride from one end to the other to take care of what needs to be done. I fought it on Wranngar.

The Horde were in control of the Fortress when the battle started so we had to build siege equipment and start the process of breaking down the walls to get inside. We managed to keep one of our southern towers intact throughout the process, only losing 2. This was the 3rd day in the rotation so I got the quests again which meant another 40 Stone Keeper's Shards for me. The battle actually didn't take too long to win, we were in and out in less than 20 minutes. Afterwards I took the portal there back to Dalaran and resumed fighting in Alterac Valley.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - A Great day for the Alliance 12/1/09

The battle for Alterac Valley rages on and the Alliance was fighting like I haven't seen in quite a while. I fought in 25 battles on Wranngar, 23 wins and 2 losses. We were dominating in there today. I almost wish I needed marks or honor lol. I got a lot of kills today, 1254 to be exact, and 37,752 honor I'll never see because the cap for honor is 75,000 and I have been there for quite awhile now. I also have 100 Alterac Valley Mark of Honor which is the max on those. I am just in there for the kills and they are piling up. I can almost see that title after my name, it is dim but getting brighter :).

We won a lot of the battles by getting Galv, then getting IBT, IBGY and TP, while some went ahead and got FWGY, East and West Frostwolf Towers and the Frostwolf Relief Hut. Once the towers burned we killed Drek. We did a couple Blitz's today too and those went pretty smooth. In the last battle, which we lost, holding SHGY and SFGY where the reason. It is stupid to take SHGY when you don't have IBT and TP capped but it is really stupid to take both SHGY and SFGY unless you have all 4 capped or capping. We didn't. The other loss was directly related to someone taking SHGY and getting us wiped out of Frostwolf because the Horde didn't have any graveyards so they rezzed in their cave. From there they came right into Frostwolf in force and wiped us out.

Of course we had the usual stupid stuff going on too, people starting EFWT and WFWT capping then jumping down to stand on noob hill in front of the keep while a single Horde went up and recapped them. That happened 3 times in one battle so I guess that is just one lesson some people are not going to learn. The same thing happened in the next to last battle with the FWRH. We had it but the Horde started it capping 3 times because no one was watching it... That is not as bad, when you recap it, it comes right back. All in all it was a great day in Alterac Valley and made me proud to be Alliance for a change, except for the AFK, they are an embarrassment.

The Battle for Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 12/1/09

Today my daily battleground was Strand of the Ancients. This is a nice battleground and I like fighting in there. We won the first one I was in. We started off on defense and although the Horde made it to the yellow gate and took it down they never made it to the door the relic is behind. The timer on that round ran out so it was our turn to be on offense.

95% of us attacked the blue gate, while one machine went to the green gate as a distraction, a couple people went AFK, and a couple people backed up the machine at the green gate. We plowed our way in without any problem. We went to, I think it was, the red door next, which ever one is in line with the blue door, and took that down. Then we were at the yellow door and busted through that. The key is to destroy the Horde siege machines before they get too far but protect ours when we are on offense. That is what we did. We crashed through the door the relic is behind and captured it. We only used about half our time, if that.

That completed my daily battleground and I turned it in for 19g86s and 1241 bonus honor. Not a bad deal. I always try to get the daily battleground done, even if it's Warsong Gulch which I really, really hate.

The Battle for Alterac Valley 11/30/09

The Alliance was having a better day in Alterac Valley today. I fought in 22 battles on Wranngar, 15 wins and 7 losses. We were doing really well early on and then kind of tapered off later. We won the last battle I was in by 17 reinforcements.

I passed the 80,000 lifetime kill mark on Wrann tonight. Now I have less than 20,000 to go to get my "of the Alliance" title.

It is so hard to get the Alliance to work together, I am in awe that we win any battles at all. Everyone is doing their own thing most of the time, whether that is AFK, capping SHGY at the wrong time or just throwing themselves at a group of Horde and dying. I tried to get 10 people to pile into IBT so we could cap it and end the last battle but the best I got was me and one other person. Needless to say when 7 Horde showed up to take it back we were unable to hold it. We had SHGY in that battle and everyone was more worried about defending that than getting any of the objectives. It is sad. We tried the Blitz a couple times but, as usual, not enough people followed the plan and we failed. The people too stupid to follow the simple plan, all to Drek, are the ones that cry hardest when it fails...

We did have some good battles though and I got a lot of kills. And I did that without farming kills, I was actively trying to capture objectives the whole time. When we were all turtling in DB, I would go get the Coldtooth Mine, then head into FW Keep and cap the towers. Can't hold them by myself but it splits the Horde up as some come back to recap them.

A simple plan to win in AV, without the Blitz, is go get Galv, then IBT, put at least 5 people in it, get IBGY and TP, once again, at least 5 people in TP. A few people to guard IBGY. Don't take SHGY. That is a must, all that does is cause a turtle and keep us from getting our objectives. Then move down and take FWGY, FW Towers and the Relief Hut. One you have those, kill Drek. It's not rocket science but a lot of people can't do that. We lost the East and West Frostwolf Towers repeatedly today because people would start them capping then jump down to go stand on noob hill in front of the keep. One single Rogue or Druid can go in there and recap them at that point, and they did. What is so hard to understand about guarding the towers while they cap? I don't get it.
