The Battle for Alterac Valley 1/15/10

The battle for Alterac Valley rages on. The Alliance was doing a little better in there tonight than they have been lately but not really good. I fought in 10 battles on Gomorra, 4 wins and 6 losses. Not great but better than they have been this last week. I'll take any kind of improvement as a step in the right direction.

We started off bad. I always say there is a time of day to fight in certain battlegrounds and a time of day to stay out of them. Unfortunately Gomorra needs the honor to get geared so I haven't really had that luxury lately. We had 5 losses in a row, then 4 wins in a row and finished up with another loss. The last one I was in was really close, we lost by less than 80 reinforcements. We should have had that one, we were ahead but people got lax, that is the Alliance way. In the 4 we won we downed Drek for the win. Out of the 6 losses the Horde downed Vann twice if I remember correctly, they won the rest on turtles. The Horde win 9 out of 10 turtles because that is a reinforcement win and Alterac Valley is set up to their advantage for that.

Gomorra is about half way to his next piece as far as honor goes. I will be happy when he is finally geared, I like playing Wranngar in the battlegrounds more.

Isle of Conquest - Daily Battleground 1/15/10

Today the daily battleground was Isle of Conquest. I did it on Wranngar and Gomorra. It took each of them 4 battles to get a win. The Alliance wasn't doing too well in there and a major part of the problem was the battles starting off so uneven. When you are in a 40x40 battleground and you are outnumbered 2 to 1, you don't stand much of a chance. Add to that the Alliance's lack of teamwork and the loss is almost assured.

Eventually we got a roughly even start, 34x40 on Wranngar and 36x40 on Gomorra, and those are the ones we won. In the first 3 on each we got steamrolled. In the majority of the losses we weren't even up to 40 players at the end. I, like many of the Alliance I'm sure, hope one day Blizzard will be able to get it right, but until then I will limit my daily battleground to 5 losses, if we don't have a win in 5 battles I drop it and see what tomorrow brings.

The Horde won a few on reinforcements which means we were putting up a good defense, sort of. The problem with that is everyone was in the keep. It is not too hard to keep them from killing your General if everyone is in the keep. Of course you're not going to win that way either. Ever. That is where the lack of experience that is so obvious in all the battlegrounds comes in. I see that happen a lot in Wintergrasp too. We won each of ours by killing the Horde General.

Anyway, they each handed this daily in for 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor and 25 arena points. Wranngar is capped on Honor but can use the arena points, Gomorra needs both.

Battle for Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 1/14/10

Today the daily battleground was Strand of the Ancients again. I did it on Wranngar and Gomorra today. It was also the holiday weekend in Strand of the Ancients, or Call to Arms as it's called. You get double the honor on a holiday weekend. A holiday weekend is the worst time to fight in any battleground. One of the reasons for that is all the weekend warriors, people who only fight in the battlegrounds on their holiday weekend for the extra honor. They are usually pretty inexperienced and don't have a whole lot of enthusiasm. The other reason is all the AFK, the leeches like to get in there and soak up all the extra honor while they stand around doing nothing but taking a slot from someone who could be fighting.

Wranngar got his done on the first battle he was in, he got in with a pretty good group. We started off on defense and had no problem at all keeping the Horde from capturing the Titan Portal. They made it through the first set of gates and that was as far as they got. In round 2 when we were on offense we had no problem blasting through all the gates and working our way to the door the portal is behind. It was almost too easy, like the Horde just gave up and were waiting for their mark. We broke down the door to the Titan Relic and captured the Titan Portal. We had 2 AFK who were marked and eventually removed from the battleground.

Gomorra wasn't so lucky. The first battle he was in ended in a draw. That means neither side was able to capture the Titan Portal. A draw is the same as a loss as far as I'm concerned, you get one mark and you don't complete your daily. The next 2 battles were even worse. We had at least 3 identifiable AFK, that's a lot when you only have 15 on your team, and there were a couple more that were only doing enough to keep from getting flagged AFK. We lost those 2 to the point the Horde were farming us at the GY...

Finally in the last battle I got in with a decent group. We had good strong defense and managed to keep the Horde from breaking down the door the Titan Relic is behind. They made it all the way through the yellow gate, which is the last gate, but couldn't get the door down before the timer ran out. In round 1 we were on defense so in round 2 we were offense. We had the full 9 minutes as the Horde ran out the timer on their attempt. We hit both the blue and green gates at the same time, something we didn't do in the losing battles, and hit them from both sides. We got through the red and purple gates which leads to the yellow gate. We had no problem getting through that and to the door the Titan Relic is behind. We broke through that door and captured the Titan Portal for the win.

I handed this in for 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor, which Gomorra really needs, and 25 arena points which the both need. Wranngar is currently maxed out (capped) on honor.

Alterac Valley - Enough Said 1/13/09

I am not going to get into how the Alliance was doing in Alterac Valley tonight, just suffice to say there is really nothing worth mentioning. Hopefully we will be doing well enough tomorrow to have something worth posting.

Eye of the Storm - Daily Battleground 1/13/10

Today the daily battleground was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar and we won the second one I was in. The last few times I have done EoS the Alliance hadn't been doing too well in there, but today we were doing all right. It took me 2 battles to get a win.

The first battle I was in we did well enough I think, we fought right to the end and it was pretty close. Usually I like to see at least 3 towers held and less flag running but in that battle we held 2 towers and ran the flag. That is where we failed, we captured the flag less times than the Horde did. That is why 2 towers and running the flag is riskier than just holding 3 towers and forgetting about the flag.

In the second battle we did it right, we took and held DR, MT and FRR then kept the Horde busy defending BET. We held those 3 for over half the battle and ran the flag a few times. Then we lost DR and got it back. Then we lost MT and never got it back but we were far enough ahead at that point that it didn't matter. We just ran the flag a few more times and won it. We ended up winning by over 700 points. They lowered the number of points to win by 400, down to 1600 now. I guess people were complaining about how long the battles were. I liked it better when it was 2,000 points and AV didn't have reinforcements but I guess people just want to get their mark(s) and move on.

I handed this in for 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor and 25 arena points. I hope I don't lose my arena points when the new season starts, but I am pretty sure I will lose my ranking. Not positive but pretty sure.

Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 1/12/10

Today the daily battleground was Strand of the Ancients. I did it on Gomorra and we won the 3rd one I was in.

I don't think we did bad in the first 2 battles, not like yesterday, we just didn't have what it took to win. I guess we were outclassed. At least we started off fairly even in numbers. We got through the yellow gate to the courtyard in both our losses but couldn't get to the Titan Portal before the timer ran out.

In the win we made it to, and through, the gate the Titan Portal is behind and captured it. We did it with quite a bit of time left on the timer too so you knew it was a win. When it is not even close you know you are either going to win, if you captured it, or lose if you didn't. When it was the Hordes turn they didn't even make it through the yellow gate before the timer ran out. I got some Artillery Master achievement on Gomorra today in one of the battles for manning a gun emplacement and doing a certain amount of damage.

I handed this daily in for 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor and 25 arena points. I am trying to do the daily on Gomorra every day because he really needs the honor.

The Battle for Alterac Valley - /Sigh 1/12/10

Another really bad day for the Alliance in Alterac Valley. I fought in 25 battles on Gomorra, 6 wins and 19 losses.

Today I can't blame it all on inexperience, although there was that, the major problem today was starting off every battle severely unbalanced. We had some battles that started off 10x40. That means we were outnumbered 4 to 1. The closest start we had in any of the battles was 34x40. Out of 25 battles we did not start a single one 40x40. It is a wonder we won any at all. Blizzard needs to get off their ass and do something about this because it is just not working. If this is the best they can do, it is just another in a long list of epic fails for them.

Needless to say, if you are outnumbered 4 to 1, instead of getting ganked by 4 Horde you are now getting ganked by 6-8 Horde. The Horde are in their glory, they can actually win a battle with those odds. Most of the battles ended in a Horde win without us ever hitting 40 players on our side. It doesn't say much for the Horde when we start outnumbered by 15 players and win does it? That happened in one battle. Every battle we won we started off outnumbered and we still overcame the Horde. It doesn't say much for the Horde either to win a battle when you outnumber the opponent by 4 to 1.

Alterac Valley - Not Alliance at it's best 1/11/10

The Alliance is still having a hard time in Alterac Valley. I am not sure what the problem is but it seems like all the players are just really inexperienced. I am not sure where they are all coming from. Are they all hitting 80 at the same time because a new expansion is coming out? Did a lot of kids get new level 80's off eBay for Christmas? If so why are they all doing AV?

I fought in 16 battles on Gomorra, 8 wins and 8 losses. You might think 50% is not too bad, but this is a battleground we were dominating in up until the end of last year, less than a month ago. At that point we were winning 80% of the battles. Now I am lucky to have a day where I hit 50%.

The main problem we had in all our losses were people not listening, which causes no teamwork. In the last battle I was in, before I decided I was wasting my time, the entire battle that was fought by the Alliance was fought in the Field of Strife, that is in the middle of the battleground. There are no objectives there. There is nothing to fight for there. Needless to say we lost that one. We had one or two people trying to cap towers but when you are holding SHGY, and we were for some reason, you need 8-10 people in a tower to cap it. Evidently 8-10 is too big a number for most these people to grasp. You try to give advice and you get people commenting with things like "WHAAAA" and "QQ". These are the idiots that won't learn, can't learn, and cost us battle after battle.

We did have some wins though, they were scattered through the losses. In those we had a couple maximum honor games, those are the ones where you have all 4 towers capped, Galv dead and still hold most if not all your towers. Another thing people don't seem to understand is you get honor for each of your towers you still hold at the end of the battle, win or lose. We had a couple where we killed Drek with a couple towers still up, usually east and west Frostwolf towers as the Alliance WILL NOT guard those. They will start them capping then jump down and stand on noob hill. One Horde player will sneak in and cap them back, they do it every time. People do not learn from this mistake. People don't seem to learn from any of their mistakes in there in this battlegroup, that is one of the reasons we are doing so badly I think.

Strand of the Ancients - Daily Battleground 1/11/10

Today when Gomorra picked up the daily battleground it was Strand of the Ancients. I usually get this one done in 2 battles or less. Today was an exception. I am not sure why the Alliance in Bloodlust are doing so bad in all battlegrounds lately but it is frustrating. More reason to transfer to a better battlegroup.

It took me 5 battles to get a win today. 5 is the most I will do to get a daily done, if I can't get a good enough group in 5 battles to get a win I just drop it and see what tomorrow brings. I am not sure why most of the people were there, it certainly wasn't to win a SoA. In 2 of the losses we didn't even get through the second gate. In one of the battles we had 5 AFK, that's 1/3 of our team doing nothing. No wonder we can't win anything. This AFK problem isn't just in SoA, it is out of control in all the battlegrounds.

After having the Horde walk all over us in 4 battles we finally got a half way decent group for the 5th battle. We hit both gates at once and got through the blue one. That lead us through the purple one and on to the yellow one. We got through that and to the gate the relic is behind in about 3 minutes. From there we took that gate down, exposing the relic, and captured the portal.

Then it was the Hordes turn. They got through the second gates but didn't get through the yellow gate.

What a difference between groups. I waited about 15 minutes between each try to try and get away from the bad groups but I was just getting bad group after bad group until the last one.

Anyway we won it in the 5th battle and I turned the daily in for 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor, which Gomorra can really use, and 25 arena points. Hopefully tomorrow it will be Alterac Valley which is the only battleground I fell like fighting in anymore. We might not be winning a lot on there but it is still my favorite.

More Alterac Valley 1/10/10

I fought in Alterac Valley some more on Gomorra today. The Alliance is still not doing great in there. I fought in 16 battles, 7 wins and 9 losses.

During the course of the day I went from really bad groups, into really good groups, and back into really bad groups. All the wins I had were in the middle. I have to stick with it though as I need the honor for gear on Gomorra.

We had a lot of inexperienced people in there again. I see a lot of people getting their achievement for their first win in there when we do have a win. That right there tells you they don't have a lot of experience in there, at least not on the character they are on. The things people say in there too are a dead giveaway that they have no experience. Things like "Kill Drek" when we have 5 or 6 people at Drek and no towers down. "Don't give the Horde SHGY" is another one, that is usually a fatal mistake.

Unfortunately for Gomorra the lack of experienced players in there really hurts. It is worse for him than it is for Wranngar who is a melee fighter. Gomorra is a caster, he wears cloth. He is not made for melee combat. The last thing he wants is to have to come into actual contact with the enemy. He needs a good front line to stand behind and cast. He has a couple things to get people off him, fear and howl of terror which is a group fear, but it is hard to cast that when 5 or 6 people are hitting you at the same time, as damage knocks back the casting. The healers have it pretty bad too in inexperienced groups, they are the first ones to get targeted because you want to kill the healers first so the enemy has no heals.

In the good groups I had a really good time, I was able to stand back behind a good front line and cast. There were a couple battles I got through without a death in those. As poorly geared as Gomorra is at the moment he was still able to wrack up over 700,000 damage in one battle and over 400,000 in all the others. With a bad group he usually does around 250,000 as he spends a lot of time dead...

I did get 2 new pieces of gear in the last couple days, Deadly Gladiator's Felweave Amice which I socketed with a Potent Ametrine and then inscribed with Greater Inscription of the Storm. Today I got Furious Gladiator's Cuffs of Dominance. I have about 4,000 honor left, I need about 45,000 more for my next piece.

Alterac Valley - Another Day 1/9/10

The Alliance isn't doing great in Alterac Valley, but they are doing better than they have been. I fought in 13 battles on Gomorra tonight, 8 wins and 5 losses.

We actually had some teamwork going on in a few of them. We did a couple where we went to Frostwolf Keep and took the towers and relief hut then killed Drek when the towers burned. That was pretty much the same group for those. We also got Glav in those battles. You can get Galv and still Blitz, we have done it a few times, not on Gomorra though, that's how long it has been since we pulled off a blitz. The Horde usually don't have a problem doing a Blitz and killing Vann with 4 towers up because they work together as a team and all seem to follow one plan.

Basically any sensible plan will win in AV if everyone follows it. That is the problem, some people are going to do their own thing, they do the same thing every time no matter what the plan is. It is too bad the raid leader can't just kick people from the battleground, that would solve a lot of problems. One thing that happens a lot is, someone will come up with a plan the majority agrees to, then right as the gate opens someone else will start spamming a different plan, then no one knows what to do. That happens way too often.

We had 2 wipes tonight because someone capped SHGY and the Horde rezzed at FWGY and just rolled into the keep and wiped out our offense. I can't stress enough that people need to look at where the Horde will rez, look where the Alliance are, and think before they cap something. If the Horde are going to rez right on top of the offense, don't do it. It's not rocket science but so many people can't seem to get it right. We also had the people that insisted that we hold SHGY. Needless to say those ended up in a turtle and loss for us. Holding SHGY keeps the Horde in front of us and we can't advance, how hard is that to figure out? The sad part is people still can't see it when you are telling them while it is happening.

Alterac Valley - The Battle Rages On 1/8/10

I fought in a bunch of battles for Alterac Valley tonight on Gomorra and a couple on Wranngar. The Alliance wasn't doing too well in there tonight. I had 8 wins and 7 losses on Gomorra and 2 losses on Wranngar.

The major problem is still lack of teamwork. When someone comes up with a plan and the majority agrees to it then that is what the whole team should be doing. Unfortunately that is not the case. If the plan is to Blitz and you have people going after towers, going after Glav (Whom you can get and still Blitz) and basically hanging out in the cave for a couple minutes after the gate goes up, then it's not going to work. Like any plan, it only works if people follow it. The majority of the Alliance players are too stupid to realize that and screw themselves out of a win time and time again. These same idiots that didn't go to Drek for the Blitz are the ones saying later, "I told you it wouldn't work". The Horde don't have any problem doing the Blitz because they work as a team.

An overall lack of experience was also a problem tonight. You can tell some of these people have no clue what they are doing in there. I did have come good groups tonight though. We did win 5 battles in a row before the group thinned out or people went to work, whatever. So the possibility of winning is there, if you have the right people. Unfortunately the right people don't seem to play often enough. Almost all of our losses ended with us turtling in Dun Baldar. A couple of those weren't too bad though, I got A LOT of kills on Gomorra tonight. Those were the ones where the group didn't suck too bad, we were just way outnumbered at the start and couldn't recover. As a caster Gomorra needs to be able to stand behind the front line and cast. As long as there are decent people manning the front line he can do that. In a few of these battles the peoples skill level was so bad the Horde would just run right over the front line and then run right over the casters. Most casters wear cloth, they are not made for melee combat.

Another ongoing problem is the AFK, the problem is really out of control. When you are starting out with the Horde outnumbering you 4 to 1, then 5 of the 10 people there are AFK, you are not going to be able to recover from that. Blizzard needs to get off their ass and do something about this problem. Just saying they are doing something about it isn't good enough. It is obvious, by reporting and AFKing the same people out of the battleground day after day, week after week, that Blizzard is doing nothing about it. Blizzard needs to start taking gear, honor and titles away from these repeat offenders and start laying down some heavy bans. People will continue to do it as long as there are no consequences for doing it. If they were to lose everything and get banned for a month then they would think twice about running bots, which is supposed to be a account termination offense, or just going in and staying in the cave.

Alterac Valley 1/7/10

The Alliance wasn't doing as well in Alterac Valley tonight. I fought in 10 battles on Gomorra, 3 wins and 7 losses. I also fought in 6 battles on Wranngar, 3 wins and 3 losses.

The problem was the quality of players, they were very poor quality. By that I mean we had a lot of inexperienced people in there for a lot of the battles. We had a pretty good strat we were trying to run in a few of them, rush to Frostwolf Keep, take the RH and east and west towers, then kill Drek after they burned. The problem was, out of around the 35 people we had, only 10 or less would actually make it to FWK. When we arrived at FWK there were at least a dozen people that had made it no farther than Dun Baldar. Some were still in the cave. The overall quality of players is just sickening.

We did win a couple with that strat though, not because we had enough people go to FWK, it was because we had quality people at FWK. All the other people that were hiding out in DB "defending" and the others that were fighting for SHGY were useless anyway and we didn't need them.

The Alliance can rarely pull off a Blitz because they can't work together. I mean if you are rushing Drek to kill him and 2 minutes after the gate opens you still have people trickling out of the cave, you're not going to be able to pull off a Blitz. Add to that the people who never leave the cave, the people who are just too stupid to follow the simple "everyone to Drek" plan and you have a loss. Those same people whine because the Horde Blitz a lot. It doesn't make them move out of the cave any faster when we are trying to Blitz, it doesn't make them follow the plan, but they whine about it none the less.

I have toyed with the idea of transferring to another server to get out of the Bloodlust battlegroup and am thinking about it again. It looks like the only way I will be able to get into a battlegroup that can actually think, follow a plan, and win. I will have to start researching so I can find the best battlegroup, preferably on a US server so I have good latency. The best battleground battlegroup means the best arena teams too, people who can work and fight together in a battleground will carry that over to arena. I would move Wranngar first, and if it worked out, then follow with Gomorra.

The Battle for Alterac Valley 1/6/10

The battle for Alterac Valley rages on and the Alliance are doing a little better in there. I fought in 9 battles on Gomorra, 5 wins and 4 losses.

We had some pretty good battles, including one where we were behind by quite a bit and the Horde had DB, but we took DB back, took IWB and SHGY back, then killed them on reinforcements. That was a nice long battle and I got over 300 kills. That was the only one we won on reinforcements, all the others were won by killing Drek.

I feel like a noob in there for some reason on Gomorra and I don't know why. I have fought in a lot of AV's on him, it is not like it is new to me. I guess it is just because it has been so long since I was in there on him. I pretty much stopped fighting in battlegrounds on him when I was 70.

I got in a couple battles with QQ cross realm pre-mades. We usually win with them but not always. They are pretty full of themselves and think just because they are there we can't lose. They like to wait until all the towers are capped for the most honor, usually a good idea, but they stick to that even when there is 2 minutes to go and the Horde got Vann screaming like a little girl. That is usually when we lose. Otherwise it is usually a win. I am building up honor towards my next piece of PvP gear and should have it in a couple days.

Isle of Conquest - Daily Battleground 1/5/10

Today the daily battleground was Isle of Conquest. I did it on Gomorra and we won the first one I was in. I didn't do any battlegrounds on Wranngar today.

When I got into the battleground the battle was already in progress. I decided to stay and defend the keep. I ran up to the top of one of the towers and manned one of the emplacement guns there. You use those to fire down on the Horde and siege equipment that get too close to the keep. Actually they have pretty good range so you can hit them a few times on the way in, I think they have a 3 second cool down. I was in there less than 5 minutes before we won. I noticed there were a few people over at the Horde keep when I looked at the map but I didn't think there was too much going on there. I guess those people were busy though because they got the gate down and killed the Horde General.

This daily got me 19g86s, 1241 bonus honor and 25 arena points when I handed it in. I am going to need the arena points and will have to eventually do some arena to get Gomorra a staff and wand.

Alterac Valley 1/5/10

The Alliance was doing a little better in Alterac Valley tonight. I fought in 13 battles on Gomorra, 7 wins and 6 losses. Believe it or not that is an improvement over how the Alliance has been doing in there lately.

We won 2 out of the first 6 battles, remember how I said there is the right time and the wrong time to be in AV? How you can see the quality of players change right before your eyes? Well, that is what happened, I was in some pretty bad groups then all of a sudden I got some good groups and we started winning. It seemed like we couldn't lose for awhile there. Eventually the group either got too thinned out or the quality changed again because we had a couple losses in a row right at the end. I wasn't complaining though, I got the 20,000 honor I needed to get my Deadly Gladiator's Felweave Trousers, my first piece of level 80 PvP gear. I was fully geared in level 70 PvP gear but all that got tossed when I hit 80. Now it I need to get back in the battleground and get another 49,600 honor for my next piece.

Alterac Valley - The Holiday's Over 1/4/10

The holiday weekend is finally over in Alterac Valley, not that the Alliance is doing much better. I fought in 2 Battles on Wranngar, both losses, and 12 battles on Gomorra, 5 wins and 7 losses.

The Alliance still doesn't seem to have it together. For the most part the people seem more interested in whining than winning. The bickering never stops. Gomorra is not well geared yet, that is why he is in there, and he is having a hard time against the geared Horde. He does a lot better in situations where he can stand back behind the melee DPS and cast spells without having to come into physical contact with other players, he wears cloth. Unfortunately with all the AFK that is harder to do than it should be. The AFK problem is worse than I have ever seen it and if Blizzard says they are doing something about it, and they do, they are lying.

All in all though, Gomorra is wracking up the kills and getting honor. I could buy one piece of gear with the honor I currently have but I am holding out for a more expensive piece which I should be able to get tomorrow. All told I am going to need about 300,000 honor to gear him. If we keep losing in AV that could take awhile. I am hoping it will get better, back to the way it was. The battles starting off so unbalanced aren't helping either, we had one that started off 13 Allaince versus 40 Horde. That had us outnumbered 4 to 1... Another Blizzard fail. We are lucky if we have 25 to the Hordes 40 when we start.

The 2 battles Wranngar was in were no better. The battles started off very unbalanced and the people were pretty inexperienced. There is one person in there, Opie, who cries through every battle. He keeps telling everyone to go to WoWHead and learn how to fight in AV. I am all for people going to the forums and any other place where they can learn how to fight better but this persons plan he spams throughout the battle, when he is not crying, is to take every graveyard between our base the Frostwolf Keep. What happens then? All the Horde are rezzing at the relief hut in FWK and we can't get in there. I checked him out in the Armory and he has less than 1,500 HK's and is wearing blues and greens, he is less geared than Gomorra. Not someone who I would listen to when it comes to battleground strategies. Evidently he learned everything he knows about AV from WoWHead and has no real experience. Real experience is the only thing that is going to help you in AV, reading about it is Ok to give you an idea, but being there and doing it is the only way you are really going to learn.

Alterac Valley - Still Holiday Weekend 1/3/10

It's still the holiday weekend in Alterac Valley and the Alliance is still doing as poorly as they usually do in a battleground on it's holiday weekend. I fought in 11 battles on Wranngar, 4 wins and 7 losses. I also fought in 6 battles on Gomorra, 2 wins and 4 losses.

It has been quite awhile since I have been in a battleground on Gomorra. I respec'd to Affliction before I started doing battlegrounds on him again. I have never tried Affliction and am not sure if I like it. It is supposed to be the best PvP spec though. Gomorra got a few achievements in his first few battles, That Takes Class, The Grim Reaper and 25000 Honorable Kills. He only had 128 kills to go to get the last one, I knew he would be getting that, the others were a surprise. Of course Wranngar got those quite awhile ago, he fights in AV a lot.

The main problem we were having today was inexperience, followed closely by AFK and people not working together. We had one battle where it looked like it was going pretty good, we had IBT and TP capping, we had SFGY and IBGY and the East and West Towers capping in Frostwolf Keep along with the Relief Hut. All of a sudden the Horde came pouring into FWK and just overran us. They took the towers, the RH and wiped us out. The reason for that was someone taking SHGY, the only forward GY the Horde had. That caused them all to rez at FWGY, right outside the keep. People need to look at the map and think, what will happen if I cap this? Where will the Horde rez? Will this wipe us? And then act accordingly. Unfortunately they don't and it causes a lot of wipes.

We got all our wins today by killing Drek. The Horde got most, not all but most, of theirs on reinforcements. The way the battleground is set up most prolonged battles are in the Hordes favor on reinforcements. They can easily get to two of their objectives while manning a choke point that keeps us from getting to any of ours.

Unlike Wranngar, Gomorra does need honor for gear, he is very poorly geared at this point. He currently has about half the honor he needs for one piece of gear. He is going to have to do a lot of battlegrounds to get geared, but then again so did Wranngar. It is time for Wranngar to move on to arena.

Alterac Valley - Holiday Weekend 1/2/10

I fought in 8 battles for Alterac Valley on Wranngar tonight, 2 wins and 6 losses. It was what I have come to expect from a battleground on it's holiday weekend. We had a good day yesterday but that is the exception on a holiday weekend.

We had a lot of inexperienced players and a lot of AFK in all the battles I was in. Holiday weekend in a battleground brings out all the weekend warriors, people who only fight in battlegrounds on their holiday weekend. They have no real experience and are usually very poorly geared. It also attracts a lot of AFK who are after the double honor. The AFK problem is so bad you get someone kicked for being AFK and they are replaced by someone who is AFK. It is a never ending battle...

In the 2 battles we won, we won one of them on reinforcements and one by killing Drek. That was the first battle I was in, I thought we were having a good day by the way that one went, boy was I wrong. We capped all 4 towers and killed Drek. It went pretty smooth and everyone worked together as much as the Alliance can. In the other win the Horde turtled and we just fought it out. We managed to get IBT and TP capped as well as IBGY. We killed Galv right at the start even though they were waiting for us in there. We just ran in and slaughtered them. We managed to hang onto all our towers but didn't have all their towers so it was not Stormpike Perfection, I think they killed Balinda too.

The other 6 battles I was in were just sad. The Horde just ran over us. I got a bunch of kills out of them at least so it wasn't all for nothing. In most the losses we ended up turtling in Dun Baldar until the Horde ran out the reinforcements. It really sucks that the holiday weekend started right after that stupid Gnome achievement ended, it has been a rough couple weeks for the Alliance in AV.
